What is Cloud Gaming?

Gaming, a buzz word that has never plummeted in trend, yet it is still growing. Along with innovations it was built on, the first cloud gaming service emerged in the year 2010. Initially, there have been a lot of drawbacks due to the lack of resources and incapable technology to support the service causing a high latency. It was a great idea back then but the technology is not matured enough to cater it. In 2012, a major development drive by the leading console company. The company Sony pushed the idea further and made “PlayStation Now”, an actual cloud gaming service and then came along with the other companies.

In the following, there will be the facts regarding on Cloud Gaming.

1. Advantages

First of all, the users will not be needing the best equipment to play the best game out there. This saves the cost of buying equipment that is upgrading for at least twice-a-year.

Followed by the cost of actually buying, downloading and storing the actual game, cloud gaming eliminates these issues. A wide variety of games can be play in remote on the subscription-based service, thus downloading and storing is performed on the remote device that has peak performance equipment.

Most importantly, it is a convenient way of gaming due to it has no restrictions on where the user is at, the user is able to play anywhere at any time.

2. Disadvantages

Before anything else, the users will be needing a strong internet connection in order to actually play the games through the service, this could present difficulties for users in rural areas.

Even having all the criteria, the latency could be a discouraging factor to actually utilize cloud in gaming.
