Most people and businesses would like to use e-wallet to make their payment via mobile app as it makes life more convenient and saves our time. But, we need to be careful that e-thief will steal the user’s data or information through phishing by directing them to a website where they need to change or update their credit card and bank account numbers. Below, we will explain the ways on how to prevent e-thief while using e-wallet :
1. Do Not Type Your PIN Number on Inaccurate Form/App
When you received a message or email that requested you to enter your PIN number for your e-wallet account, remember do not reply and enter it. The e-thief likes to trick the user into believing that the message is true and make them trust that it is a real email request from their bank. You just need to ignore it and do not share your account information with other people to prevent e-thief attacks.
2. Prevent Usage of Public Wi-Fi
When you are making payment using e-wallet, do not connect the public wi-fi as it is easy for the e-thief to steal your personal data or credit card information. They would utilize the security flaw in the network to steal data. So, it is better to use your own internet data while making payment on your mobile app as it is secure and encrypted.
3. Use The App’s E-KYC Authentication to Confirm Your Account
Every user is required to use the app’s E-KYC authentication to verify their account. For example, you need to upload a picture of your IC to confirm your identity and make sure that it is your real person. It is a secure way to protect the users account and their sensitive privacy data.
4. Use Distinct Password for Each E-Wallet Account
It is a safer way to use a different password for your different e-wallet account as if one of your e-wallet accounts is being hacked or attacked, at least the other account will be secure. Also, do not share your password to the others and use the correct password to login to your e-wallet account. Your passwords must be longer and strong so that the e-thief could not attack easily.
