Web Design:
Are you wondering why people spend little or no time on your business website when they land on it? Well, I am sure you want to find out what is wrong with your website and how you can fix it.
Below are 5 major problems mostly found on the websites’ web design of small-scale businesses:
1. It contains too many generic or uninteresting stock pictures
Bad stock photos are often ridiculous even though they are generic. Generally, images should help visitors to have a clear understanding of what your website is all about, but generic stock pictures do not help your business or visitors in this regard.
It pays more to display real photos of your company, its location, product, customers, and employees.
2. It fails to clearly explain what your company does
The trademark of high-quality web pages is that they clearly explain what they do, who they are, as well as what visitors should expect. You may not necessarily describe what you do and who you are if your company or brand is well-known (for instance, Coca-Cola). Nevertheless, it is still important that most businesses provide answers to these questions to help visitors know if they are in the right place or not.
3. It takes too much time to load
We often check our phones the countless number of times per day due to our shortening attention spans, and this has eventually created an impatient attitude in us towards waiting for websites to load. So, the faster your website, the more user-friendly it is.
4. It has a poor navigation
Do visitors know where to go, what to do and the next steps to follow when they land on your website?
To achieve this, make sure you explain the value of what you offer by using clear headlines and useful content pages. Guide your visitors towards knowing how to take the next steps by using a clear primary call-to-action, regardless of whatever action you want them to perform (e.g. getting a free trial, subscribe to your blog, or watching a video).
5. It contains auto-playing multimedia content
It is very annoying when visitors on your website are bombarded with a talking head on a video or an auto-playing theme song which they didn’t even “play” in the first place, and it becomes more frustrating when there is no “stop” button. For sure, your visitors will leave because nobody wants that kind of experience while using a website.
